Dream List: Professional Art Supplies

Hello Everybody! How are you all doing?

Today I want to talk about art. You all know how much I love it. I’ve been making a lot of drawings since I came back. So I think of ways I can make my drawings look better. At the end of the day, I blame it all on the fact that I do not have high-quality art supplies. But we all know that is not true at all. The problem is that I am not practicing enough. If I want to be a good artist, I have to learn everything I need to know about my medium.

With all that aside, you will always have the need to experiment and try new things. I myself can’t resist when I step into an art store. It is an equal feeling to a child in a toy store. This is how it goes: “I don’t know what this is. It looks nice. I want it. I have ideas for this. I can’t live without it.” Either I buy it or gain some kind of self-control. Going art shopping is a torture and bliss. No matter how many supplies I get, I won’t be able to be an expert in all them.

I am quite greedy. Is not that I want everything I see. But when I see someone using their art supply it fills me with inspiration to try it too. “I want to paint like they do. But I wouldn’t be able to if I don’t have what they are using.” With that thought in mind, it is how things end up going wrong. They have been using that medium for years. They have developed their own style. Don’t expect to watch and imitate something that somebody has taken years to develop. Then you become frustrated and forsake your art supplies for not working as you want it to.

This is the list of art supplies I dream to get someday:

MARKERS: This medium is new to me. Either I pick alcohol or water base.
  • Copic Ciao Pens
  • Kuretake Zig Clear Color Pens
COLORED PENCILS: This is the competition to the Prismacolors. I want to buy these after I use up the ones I have.
  • Faber Castel Polychromos
WATERCOLORS: I been trying to learn how to use this medium. I don’t have a good quality watercolor at all. The more pigmented the better.
  • Dr. Ph Martins Concentrated Watercolors
  • Kuretake Gansai Tambi Watercolors
  • Winsor & Newton Cotman
LINE ART: After using the Deleter Neopiko Pens I been in love with these pens. I won’t if I should try using the pen and ink instead.
  • Deleter Black Ink
SKETCHBOOKS: Too many journals. Some I want to try and others would be a good compliment for the mediums I want to use.  A few of them are expensive as hell.
  • Arches Watercolor Paper
  • Canson Montval Watercolor Paper
  • Bristol Smooth Paper
  • Strathmore Visual Journal
  • Leuchtturm 1947 Sketchbook
  • Leda Art Supply Sketchbook
ART JOURNALING: I already have some of these. But there are some colors I want to add to the collection. The paints are my new acrylics. And I love how bright and colorful they are.
  • Dylusion Paints
  • Dylusion Ink Sprays

I have other things that I will like to have, but they are not art mediums. They are between water brushes to art portfolios. That kind of thing I can get it anytime. The difference between them is that the list above I don’t need it. I already have colored pencils, I have watercolors, and I sketchbooks for days. But that doesn’t stop me from wanting it.

One day I will be able to buy them. As time passes I will find something better. Or get used to the things that I am using right now. This desperation of acquiring more art supplies, its because I am still a newbie when it comes to painting. Coloring is not my strong suit, and I am too impatient to work my way to perfection. I already know the answer to my problem. What hinders me is my laziness. I procrastinate like it were my second nature.

Like I said before, since the moment I came back home, I’ve been drawing like crazy. Instead of drawing, which I’ve done enough. I should be practicing how to color. Relearn to use the colored pencils. Learn how to color with markers and blend with watercolors. And I keep complaining that my sketchbooks aren’t good enough. I’m am using a mixed media sketchbook. And I am more worried that my drawings won’t look like a masterpiece. Mixed media is a good paper to practice with. But my brain doesn’t want to understand that.

So there you have it, a dream list of high-quality art supplies. I wrote this post because we are near Black Friday and all those sales. I had the temptation to buy some online. But I needed to convince myself to not do it. Thanksgiving has already passed. The holidays have begun. Maybe just maybe I might get myself something for Christmas. But I am not 100% sure. I don’t want to think about it. So I gave myself a condition: I have to fill up my old sketchbook and then I will allow myself to buy a new one. If that is possible.

Do not forget to give me a visit at my website The Senspirational ArtRoom. All I need is your support and now you can do so by going to my Patreon page. Or go to see my older drawings at DeviantArt. There are also many other sites that I am currently active. Never forget to add me at FacebookTwitterInstagramTumblr, and on Pinterest. Well, I’ll leave now. Be nice to others, have a nice day, and take care!

See you all later and Happy Holidays,

from Ijiserure.
