How To: Starting A Creative Planner

Hello Everybody! How are you all doing?

Today is a new day, and I need a new way to keep my life organized. You already know how lazy and organized I am. So for a while I been wondering what can I do to keep myself in working top shape. I’ve searched for answers, and they all direct me towards keeping a planner.

Why do I need a planner for? Sometimes they are useful and this isn’t my first time using one. At first, I would be diligent every day, but by the middle of the year, I would have neglected it. And it is also a hassle to find the ‘best’ planner. My mind is between keeping one or not.

So after thinking about it for a while, I decided to keep a planner. But I will not buy one, they are too expensive. This time, I prefer creating one of my own. I didn’t know where to start until I found a movement called ‘bullet journaling’. Not 100% sure what it is, but it is what the thing that I was looking for.

So how do I start making my creative planner?

I watched as many tutorials as I could. And also gather a ton of spreadsheet ideas. If I was going to make this, it had to be perfect. Bought a notebook I wanted to try for a long time. So I followed all their instructions. All I need to know was the things that I wanted to record in the journal.

What do I need to get started?

  • Journal: Its recommended to get it in a grid or dotted. Blank pages are for experts that don’t need lines to guide them.
  • Color Markers: You can use water based or alcohol based. Make sure not to apply too much. Prevent bleeding, feathering and ghosting.
  • Ruler: It can be any type. It is only for making lines.
  • Pens: You need black pens, for writing and outlines. The best black pen would be the Sakura Micron. It is very fine and with archival ink.
  • Stickers: Some stickers are useful and others are cute. Whichever way you want to use them, adding stickers to the planner is a good choice.
  • Pencil and Eraser: Pens are very important, but you need a pencil once in a while. They are for creating the spreadsheet outlines. After you’re done you can erase all the lines away.
  • Washi Tape: Like the stickers, they can be useful or aesthetic.

A list of entries that I must keep in my planner:

  • Index: It is an easy way to find your pages faster.
  • Key: A code to classify all the ongoing tasks.
  • Year Calendar: A view of all the days of the current year.
  • List of Holidays: To know ahead of time on which day each holiday is going to be.
  • Important Dates: You can write own your important dates.
  • Goals: Things you want to achieve during the year.
  • Savings & Expenses: Track down how much money you save and spend.
  • Habit Tracker: Track habits your hand to improve on.
  • Currently: A list of current interests.
  • Wish List: Things you want to have in the future.
  • Things To Try: A list of new things you want to try.
  • Morning Routine: A list of all the must do’s to start the morning.
  • Work Schedule: A weekly list of important things to do during the week.
  • Social Media: Keep track of all social media sites.
  • Ideas: A page to write down any incoming ideas.
  • Posts: List of post that needs to publish through out the year.
  • Monthly Calendar: A calendar of the month that I am currently working on.
  • Weekly Planner: A weekly spread for each week I am currently working on.

Having a customized planner is not easy. At least it contains everything I want and need. Now that I know the basics, what I have to do at last is to start. I do need this planner. It is hard to keep things organized with all the things that I need or want to do. My ideas are all over the place and my calendar is incomplete. With this planner I hope I can become more productive.

And there you have it a new creative post. But this time it is all about creating my creative planner. I am so happy that the Holidays are here. I am feeling more relaxed and the air is cold. There is so much to do before the year ends. And I also need to finish packing. My trip is happening soon and I have things to put in my bag.

Do not forget to give me a visit at my website The Senspirational ArtRoom. All I need is your support and now you can do so by going to my Patreon page. Or go to see my older drawings at DeviantArt. There are also many other sites that I am currently active. Never forget to add me at FacebookTwitterInstagramTumblr, and on Pinterest. Well, I’ll leave now. Be nice to others, have a nice day, and take care!

See you all later and Happy Holidays,

from Ijiserure.
