Sketchbook Art: Chibi Fairy Sisters

Hello Everybody! How are you all doing?

Welcome to my new art post. Today I want to show you my most recent sketchbook artwork. The coloring process is fun but it is also hard work. After so long, I am able to give color to many of my original characters. At the same time show off how much I am improving in my art.

I did it! After years of making this drawing, I was now able to color it. There was no problem for me back then. I was lazy and focused on drawing only, like usual. But I have to step up my color game. I am falling behind and hard.

It has been a month since I’ve colored one of these. I forgot how much time and work it takes. I spent a day and a half coloring this. After so much work it feel like I’ve accomplished something. But I have to start coloring more often. I can’t be spending more than a day with one artwork. At least two days if I count the drawing process.

What did I make?

So I call them the Fairy Sisters. They are sisters but they aren’t fairies. They are something more than that. It is unclear even they themselves don’t know. Their parents haven’t given them the talk yet. If they ever get to see their parents again. Is not like they abandoned their daughters, they are busy somewhere else.

From left to right, first is Lumina, she represents the day. She is the middle sister and the mother figure to her sisters. Next in line is Prism, she doesn’t know what her powers are. She is the youngest of the sisters and she never met her parents. The third sister is Darcia and she represents the night. She is the oldest and wisest of the sisters. The authority figure of the group. She did get to experience living with her parents.

All three sisters live together in another realm. A place where only their kind can strive. It is also for their protection as there is no place in the universe for them. They live carefree lives, waiting for their parents to come back to them soon. At the same time preventing Prism from causing any trouble. That is the reason why they are now stranded in parallel universes.

How did I make it?

It was all done in my Blue Sketchbook. I drew them years ago. But now it was the time for me to color them at last. This is only their chibi form, they have an actual from which I want to work on soon. At first I feared of coloring them. I have a fear of ruining something perfect. That is one of the reasons why I don’t color as often as I want to. Now I scan my art before adding any color to them.

Because I drew in my blue sketchbook, I had to withhold myself from using anything besides dry media. I was close to redrawing the art on watercolor paper. But I am kinda glad I didn’t. I proposed to do something and I went through it to the end. I made the choice of only using Crayola colored pencils. And I am proud of how well the art turned out.

I’ve learned something during this process. You can make amazing artwork with whatever supply you have. But first, you must know how it works. It is better to rely on something you already know well. Instead of expecting a certain result from something you’ve never experimented on. That’s why you always have to practice with your supplies before committing to an artwork. So many time have I paid that price.

Now that I’ve colored one thing. I should move on to my next drawing. I can’t give myself another break or I’ll become lazy again. And there is no more time to waste. This time I want to try something different. But first let me color some more with my Crayola colored Pencils. They worked so well that I wan’t to experience that all over again.

And there you have it, new artwork from my Blue Sketchbook. There are still a few more artworks to show you before I made the transition. I am redrawing all my blue sketchbook drawing into my Canson Mix Media Journal. I want to color in a different way and my old sketchbook has become an obstacle to me. So to now waste all those drawings, I work day and night to remake these drawings as accurate as possible. I hope it turns out well.

Do not forget to give me a visit at The Senspirational ArtRoom. All I need is your support and now you can do so by going to my Patreon page. Or go to see my older drawings at DeviantArt. There are also many other sites that I am currently active. Never forget to add me at FacebookTwitterInstagramTumblr, and on Pinterest. Well, I’ll leave now. Be nice to others and have a nice day!

See you all later and take care,
