Sketchbook Art: Meriddian

Hello Everybody! How are you all doing?

Today I present you a new sketchbook art. How long has it been? Is not that I’ve forgotten. I am only busy like anybody else. Too much in my mind lately. Trying to catch up with my blogging, preparing for my upcoming trip, and planning for next year’s blog. If I could do it all, but even time is not kind to me. That was an example of an excuse, I am lazy as hell.

So finally, I am posting this drawing about another main character. I have many stories and I’ve realized that I can’t stop myself. I keep creating more and more. So far, I have almost forty main characters. Is not that I am complaining. But sometimes it becomes a challenge to make them look unique and to have something new to make up as a story.

So who is this character?

Her name is Meriddian, and she has no last name. Her age is not defined, but she has lived longer than any man possible. Meriddian is the last human alive. She was from the last earthen era as planet Earth is no longer habitable. The only humans still around are the ones living in space colonies surrounding the moon and beyond. But three thousand years have gone by and they have evolved. Could they still refer to themselves as “humans”? Sleeping inside a conservation tank, submerged at sea, under the ruins of mankind.

Okay, so this is her story. Meriddian as a child was a street rat. Abandoned on the streets to fend for herself. This man, a self-proclaimed scientist, took her into his home. He fed her, took care of her, and gave her an education. This scientist discovered that humankind on Earth had its days counted. But nobody would take his word as truth. So for many years, he prepared himself for the final day. The only thing he needed was a subject to bring his plans into work.

Meriddian became the “scientist’s” guinea pig. He performed countless operations on her. The girl has in the majority of the time wrapped in bandages. Somebody reported the authorities about the “scientist’s” crimes, as one night the police came to his house with an arrest warrant. Before being taken away, he hid Meriddian inside a conservation tank he was building to survive the Earth’s catastrophe

Hidding inside the tank, Meriddian never saw the scientist being arrested. She stayed inside until he came back for her. But he wasn’t going to see him ever again. One officer investigating the basement by mistake activated the tank. It trapped Meriddian inside inducing her into a re-animated coma. Years later the Earth befalls into a complete devastation. Nobody was able to survive. All Earth became a wasteland. And Meriddian’s tank was trapped underwater and rubble.

Thousand of years later, the people who left Earth to find a better life, have evolved beyond their ancestors. But their dependency on science and technology has finally stagnated them. Their eagerness to become the best human being has pushed them to reproduce perfect humans out of test tubes. Manipulating their genes to become “useful” to the colony. Now they are no longer able to change on their own nor reproduce themselves.

Earth was an off-limits zone until the colonies devised a plan to go back to Earth and investigate its demise and cultural remains. After decades of sending specialized scientist, they haven’t solved their true motive. “How to make their kind thrive again?” A group of archeologists recovers a cylinder pod. The man takes the pod for further investigation and after scanning he discovers there is an artifact inside. When he opens the container he discovered there is a living being inside.

Meriddian’s early experimentation has given her the gift to adapt to any kind of environment. With her discovery, she is has become the “tool” that the colony wants. Now she needs to survive any kind of experiment the colony is doing to her. They have faith that she is and isn’t their last chance to restore their kind. It is all fair until somebody questions their own human ethics and morale.

Wow, this story seems kinda neat. Technically, I don’t write down my story ideas. Over time I keep changing the way the story goes. Sometimes I have no clue in what direction I want to go with. All I know is that I had this concept much longer than any other story I had. Now I want to sit down think this over. Cause this story is more of, What are you willing to do to save mankind? Is it okay to sacrifice one to become better? I want to expose how fucked up humanity is.

And there you have it a new character from my sketchbook. I love writing stories. Currently, I am trying to adapt my main characters in my new art style. I am using their old drawings but the new style makes them look different. And I am also excited cause I am drawing them on watercolor paper, which means that I can improve their coloring too. As of right now, I am 1/6 complete. I hope I can get better at coloring cause I do not want to ruin them.
Do not forget to give me a visit at my website The Senspirational ArtRoom. All I need is your support and now you can do so by going to my Patreon page. Or go to see my older drawings at DeviantArt. There are also many other sites that I am currently active. Never forget to add me at FacebookTwitterInstagramTumblr, and on Pinterest. Well, I’ll leave now. Be nice to others, have a nice day, and take care!

See you all later and Happy Holidays,

from Ijiserure.
