Hello Everybody! How are you all doing?
Welcome to my new art post! Today I show you the cover of a project I’ve planned to work on for quite some time. I have a lot of smash books, but it isn’t easy to find a proper idea for each one of them. This time I will put more effort into making that project possible. It has been too many years overdue.
The smash book that I am working on is “Mod Black”. It is simple, it doesn’t have a theme not a decorative embossing on the cover. This was my first ever Smash book. Over the years, I had no clue what to do with it. I was suffering from the new journal block.
At first, I wanted to use the journal as a record book for my art supply inventory. As time went by I moved on from that idea. Later on, I decided to make an “All About Me” journal. I worked on the ideas for days. Very thrilled to make this project happen. But I don’t remember what happened that made me hesitate on my plans.
Now years later I want to go on my ideas. I’ll have to change them a bit as I’ve changed between the time I first had these ideas. I had all the lists things that I wanted to add. But now I have other plans and remake everything. I am not going to try to remember what I wanted to do the first time.
I love of the over of my smash book looks. I didn’t plan it and went with it. This cover art was possible without any planning nor overthinking about the details. All the supplies I used were things that I had available at that moment. Even nail accessories are being used. I could have added more embellishments but I guess this simpleness is enough. I am satisfied with the results.
Like decorating the cover, I shouldn’t stress out over how to handle what goes into the journal. But I do have to give in some thought on the topic I want to work on. With this project, I can learn how to use a smash book. It isn’t about high-level planning. You add what you want to add without no thought about it. Some times planning too much takes the fun out of an art project.
The Smash Book has 38 sheets to work on. Like I’ve said before I don’t plan too much about it. But I do want to work on my theme. So I am not sure either to make it list like or jot down random things that represent what I like. That is a decision I’ll have to make soon. But I prefer to use both ideas if possible.
And there you have it a new, art project post. I am excited to work on this smash book. I plan on posting the process of my work. So first I need to know what to do and when I do I’ll keep you all updated on the progress. As you can tell this post was going to go out yesterday. But to pay respects to Good Friday I moved it to Saturday instead. Sorry if I’ve scared you all. I am still posting.
