Hello Everybody! How are you all doing?
Welcome to my holiday post! I can’t miss out on making a Christmas artwork. I love writing holiday posts, it only happens once a year. And the Holidays are my favorite time of the years. Too bad I can’t spend it the way I want it to. But I am not complaining. I am more excited about 2020.
This is my Christmas artwork. I got to say I enjoy water coloring. It takes a lot of concentration. Adding, mixing, blending and layers. There are more things that you have to do in water coloring that I still don’t know about.
I am happy how well this picture turned out. I love how all the colors look well together. The red, blue, green and white. Those were my priority colors. Doesn’t this look Christmasy? All the holiday colors are here.
What I like about water coloring is, that the process goes faster. The only thing I have to do is wait for the excess water to dry. Then I continue to add more. It also takes skills to do great pictures. At first, I got intimidated. Now I have an understanding of what I am doing. It must be the pens. I’ve never felt like this with the watercolor pans.
How do I do it? I start with the skin first. I don’t know why. But I am trying to stop. It has something to do with preventing the skin from getting ruined ahead of time. But it doesn’t matter it can happen at the beginning or at the end. I still choose on what spot to start.
I do make a swatch to decide what colors I want to use. Which one goes well with each other. My pen set comes with twelve shades of blue, six of red and eight of gray, and many other more. The thing is that they don’t all go well together. So the swatch is important.
When I start to paint I blend the ink with a lot of water. I need to have a light shade of that color to paint a base color. After I am done with all the base colors, then I go back to deepen the color. When I am satisfied I start adding shadows. Before finishing each artwork, I leave them for a few days. At least to decide if it looks okay the way it is or if it needs more.
Art like this is what made me decide to paint more. Colored pencils take to much of my time. I am not abandoning it, I am taking a short break. I am going to build up my colored pencil artworks and finish more watercolor ones. This is a win-win situation. I can always color a little piece each day or every night until I am done.
There you have it, a new holiday artwork. Right now I am working on more artworks. This bit by bit progress is working out for me. So far I have a total of 4 watercolor artworks done. And I want to finish this whole sketchbook before March. So please wish me good luck and Happy Holidays.
Do not forget to give me a visit at The Senspirational ArtRoom. All I need is your support and now you can do so by going to my Patreon page. Or go to see my older drawings at DeviantArt. There are also many other sites that I am currently active in. Never forget to add me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, and Pinterest. Well, I’ll leave now.
