My Current Favorite Art Supplies

Hello Everybody! How are you all doing today?

Welcome to my new art post! Today I want to talk about my art supplies. Well, the ones that I use the most currently. When it comes to my art there are always steps. Each step has its own set of art supplies

  • First I start with a drawing. But I need to choose what kind of art medium will I do at the end. So my go-to is either a Mix media or Watercolor journal. Right now I am using both Strathmore Mixed Media and Stillman & Birn Zeta. And then I draw. My favorite pencil so far is the Pentel Graphgear 1000, with the 005 lead. Can’t forget about the bet eraser the Staedtler. I don’t use anything else besides this.
  • After my drawing is complete, I proceed to use my Deleter dip pen and the Black Cat Waterproof Black Ink. That is how I create my line art. I have to make sure that I 100% like the drawing before proceeding. Once I ink I can’t fix the drawing. There are moments when I want to add something but I use my Deleter Neopiko black pens for that instead. Both inks are waterproof, so there is no worrying about getting smudged by wet mediums.
  • Before coloring, I scan it first. I always love to have a blank copy of my drawings. If I ever feel like it, I can always print it and color it again. I have special papers and ink for that. It isn’t an art supply but the printer I have is the Epson Workforce Pro WF-7820. I am only using it for scanning right now. But one of the reasons I bought it was because it can print up to 13″ x 19″. I can make posters with these. But also it uses Epson DuraBright ink which is waterproof too.
  • Okay, so this is the part where I start to get more creative. For coloring or painting I mean, I like to use the Zig Clean Color Pens. They are markers with water-soluble ink. So Instead of using them as regular markers, I like to apply the pigment to a porcelain palette. Then I add water to it and color my drawings by using my Silver Black Velvet watercolor brushes.
  • The coloring process takes longer than any other step. I have to wait for each colored section to dry before I can continue coloring. So part of being an artist is to have patience. I can always buy a heat tool to dry my art. But the old-fashioned way is fine too. Because of that, I can last up to five hours finishing an artwork. I do own watercolors but for now, I prefer to use my Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens from Kuretake. They are not really watercolors but they are water-soluble. So I use them as watercolors. Soon I will start practicing with real watercolors.
  • After I am done coloring I add some extra details. It is something I’ve started doing more and more recently. Sometimes I like to use my Paul Rubens Glitter Watercolors. Other times I use my Liquitex Acrylic Gold Paint. For now, these are the two that I use, in the future, I will discover other ways to make my artwork look amazing.
  • The last step is for me to add some highlights and redo the lines. We have to polish the final product. Usually, for the highlights, I use the White Gelly Roll Pens. But I found out that Uni-ball white pens work better. I still use both of them. Now I am learning how to use the Dr. Ph Martins Bleedproof White inks. It is a challenge at first to use it with a brush, but I am starting to love it. For the black lines, I use the Deleter Neopiko pens. I am running out of ink so I have to buy some more soon.

And there you have a new list of my current art supplies. I have more art supplies than these. These are the ones that I use the most currently. That list is bound to change again soon. Next year I am using a different sketchbook and I will add some more inks or paints. I want to improve my coloring skills. So if I need to use and buy more art supplies to achieve it I will do so in a heartbeat. All I need is some money to spend, cause some art supplies aren’t cheap.

So please wish me good luck and I hope you have a nice day!

Do not forget to give me a visit at The Senspirational ArtRoom. All I need is your support and you can do so by going to my Patreon page. Or go to see my older drawings at DeviantArt.
