image Art: Marker Practice

Hello everybody! How are you all doing?

Today I want to show you another art piece of mine. I made this marker picture. This is my first time practicing with markers. I thought that it was time for me to learn how to color with markers already. My whole life I’ve been only using colored pencils. So I think it was time for me to change or try a new technique.

I decided on drawing my favorite flowers. It was a lot simpler image to practice on. For my first try, I think I did okay. Wanting to create some shading to the images. They aren’t as noticeable as I wanted them to be. Maybe I would have used more colors instead of base for the all image.

Comparing this image with the “Marker Test” artwork, made me realize that I am improving. Now I need to practice on skin tones. In my opinion, if your master skin tones then you are set. For me skin tones are very tricky. To learn how to color with markers, I usually watch it on tutorials. Watching other people do it and explain it can give me an idea of what I should do.

Sometimes trying new things is great but most of the time it feels discouraging. I get overwhelmed by the idea of failure. Of course I want my drawings to come out right. I don’t want to make any mistakes. And if I do make one, I hope it isn’t noticeable. Ideas like that is what keeps me away from trying new things. How many things would I’ve had done if it weren’t the case?

After practicing so much with markers now I want to buy a set of Chameleon pens. I know that I’ve mentioned this in my “Marker Test” post. What it means it that I still haven’t bought it. I do want it, but I should practice some more. Also because it is expensive. The price I don’t care, the question is if I’ll use it. And I have some future plans that makes me waiver over that idea.

What are supplies did I used to make this? I use a Canson XL Watercolor paper. For the markers I used Prismacolor Premier Markers. If you can see I only used 7 markers in total. To make this art better I should have used more. That is something that I will keep in mind for the next time I practice.

So there you have it another artwork even though it is a practice artwork. To me it looks pretty. But I know that there is so much room for improvement. Now what should I practice on. My thoughts are on the skin tone. Like I said before, it is the hardest part to master. Well for me that is.
