image Art: Marker Test

Hello Everybody! How have you all been doing?

Today I want to show you another one of my drawings. I’ve noticed that I haven’t been drawing as much as I wanted to. There are so many artworks that I want to work on. And also art skills that I want to practice on. Way too many things to do. And now that soon my life is going to give a dramatic turn of events. Why can’t I ever get ahead of the game?

This picture came to me out of nowhere. I wasn’t even expecting it to make it. It was so recent that I made it last Wednesday. It only took me like 2.5 hours, both the drawing and the coloring. This drawing I made it for a dear friend of mine who is leaving soon. Wanting to give him some kind of gift I made a picture. I drew him as a character of a series he likes so much. He’s supposed to look like a ghoul from the anime series “Tokyo Ghoul”. Almost looking like the main character but not that much.

I am not prone into coloring with pens or markers. I don’t even know why I did so. I felt like wanting to color something bright and colorful. Don’t regret making that choice. To be my first time coloring with markers, it did turned out pretty well. Now I want to color all my drawings this way. But I can’t jump the gun yet. I need to practice some techniques first.

This was a bit easier cause there are only three prominent colors: red, black and white. What will happen when the time comes that I want or have to blend other colors? I still don’t know how to do that yet. The only thing I know is: first you apply a light base color. Then you color with a darker tone the shaded areas. After that you add a mid-tone between the shaded and light base. And to blend it all to make it even you color with the base color all over. In my case this was…confusing. I don’t know if I should say easy or difficult. I don’t have different tones of reds or blacks. Lucky enough that I had other markers and not all red color the same.

So after that experience I am planning to practice more with my markers. I even searched around online for tutorials and brand reviews. I love my markers my Prismacolor markers. But I am thinking of making a switch. Prismacolor is kinda expensive, also does the ‘good’ brands. What I mean is, that Prismacolors aren’t refillable nor can I replace the nib. In the end I would have to buy another pen. Copics are good, I’ve never used them but I’ve seen colored images by them. The problem is that there are so many. It is a lot cheaper if you bye the whole set. But they still have so many. Only because you need those tone gradation. The are refillable and the nibs are replaceable. There are also the Chameleons, I fell in love at first sight cause I want them. I want them so bad, the whole set, everything. But it costs almost $200 the 52 set. I want them so much. One day I will, when I save more money for art supplies.

The markers I’ve used were: Prismacolor Premier Markers, Prismacolor Scholar and a bit of Sharpie. To make the initial outlines I used my trusty black micron pen. And I did it all over a watercolor paper. This is going to be my forever go to paper. This type of medium does it all and resists it all. I hope it is acid-free cause I don’t remember. I don’t want his picture turn to yellow over time.

And there you have it another artwork. A marker artwork. Wondering what should I draw, I want to keep testing these markers. I thank you all to the people who read my posts. I like your support and now that I need it more than ever before. You can all support me by visiting me at Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr ,and on Pinterest. Well I’ll leave now. Be nice to others and have a nice day!

See you all later and take care,
