Art Project: Drawing Remake

Hello Everybody! How are you all doing today?

Hello Everybody! How are you all doing today?

Welcome to my new post! Today I want to talk about a project I’ve been working on. It is not that creative or important, just another routine to keep myself organized. It has been a while since I’ve wanted to do this. And every time I do I end up changing my mind. This time I sat down and worked on it, it took me more than a week. I am glad that I have my drawings where I want them to be.

It all started when I realized what kind of art medium I wanted to work on. A long time ago I used to color only with colored pencils which is a dry medium. Over the years it has evolved and I realized I prefer using different types of mediums together. That is what we call Mixed Media. There is an art journal designed for that sole purpose. I prefer to use a much more thicker paper, one that won’t buckle, bleed, or feather. Those are my pet peeves when it comes to art journals.

So I have decided to use Watercolor paper, but not all papers are created equally. Some are smooth, others rough, and some are white or cream-colored. But the biggest of them all are the paper weight and the materials made with. The bigger the weight the thicker it is. About the materials, some papers are made with cotton and others with wood pulp. I always seek for the cotton paper even though it is pricey. As long it works well with my mediums I don’t care too much about those things.

The biggest issue is that I prefer my paper in journal form. The majority of the best papers come in a pack of loose sheets or in a pad. It is my preference. I want to keep my work organized that is all. So it is not easy to find the best papers as a journal. Even worse, they don’t give you as many as you wish you could have. There aren’t many journals out there that come with more than 30 sheets of paper. 30 Sheets is the max I could find, after that, the number goes lower. Either way, I would buy it, I can always color on both sides of the paper to double that amount. The sheet is thick enough to not affect the art on the opposite side.

So this is what I did, I have a lot of sketchbooks, some are unused and others are a work in progress. But what the majority have in common is what I want to use for my art. The new ones are Watercolor, and the old ones are either Mixed Media or a cheaper version of watercolor paper. Back then I wasn’t focusing too much on the quality, but now I do. A lot of my old drawings are in those bad journals. My plan is to redraw them all in my newer and better watercolor art journals.

  • Grumbacher
  • Handbook
  • Strathmore Mixed Media
  • Strathmore Watercolor
  • Stillman & Birn Zeta
  • Canson Montval

I have more drawings than I thought and most of them are unfinished. I want to redraw them again and give them a new purpose. It took me more than a week to write down each drawing and assign them to different journals depending on the theme. So in total, I had 247 unfinished drawings and I transferred them to 6 watercolor journals.

So there you have it, a new art post. There is so much to do. I’ve never been so busy before. After so much work, I want to take a good rest. If that is possible. Right now there are a few things to work on. But I prefer to go to bed. If only I could multi-task at work.

So please wish me good luck and have a nice day!

Do not forget to give me a visit at The Senspirational ArtRoom. All I need is your support and you can do so by going to my Patreon page. Or go to see my older drawings at DeviantArt. There are also many other sites that I am currently active in. Never forget to add me on Facebook, TwitchInstagramTumblr, and Pinterest. Well, I’ll leave now. Be nice to others and have a nice day!

See you all later and take care,

from Ijiserure.
