Holiday Art: Chinese New Year Artwork

Hello Everybody! How are you all doing today?

Welcome to my new art post! I am posting this new artwork I finished last Tuesday during my live stream. And as of today, I am late for the Chinese New Year. It already happened on Tuesday and here I am posting this on Friday. At least I made this days later as I was very far behind in my art posts. But still made an artwork either way.

I’ve been super busy since the past week. And one of the many things that I needed to do was finish this art. I had to finish drawing and inking my drawing during my Chibi Ijiserure live stream. But I am glad that I took the time to do so. If I didn’t I wouldn’t be posting this in time. To be honest I didn’t know that the holiday was at the beginning of February. If I did sooner, I would have tried to post it a little bit earlier.

This drawing was a challenge. Well, all the holiday artworks this year are going to be a challenge for me. I am making a group picture. And by experience, I’ve noticed that it takes me longer to color many characters in a drawing. The previous art had two characters. So how long would I take if I have more than that? This one has five. It was fun drawing it. Coloring feels more like labor.

I did have fun planning this drawing. First I had to figure out who were the characters I wanted to add to them. There was a main character and the character from last year. Then everyone else who was well acquainted with them. There is a little story behind it all. The girls in the picture are from left to right: Lilica, Jina, Marina, Eve, and Aika.

I also liked the fact that I had to look for different styles of Cheongsam. Those are traditional Chinese dresses. They come in many different styles. So I got to choose who wore what depending on their personality. Cutesy, sexy, revealing, conservative, I got them all. The trickiest part is making the background. I am not good at it yet, but I want to build a scenario on how and where they are celebrating the Chinese new year.

The story behind this artwork is that Marina spent last year’s Chinese New Year in China. She was on her own. So this year she was going back and invited her friends to come along. The other girls were too busy or had plans, so only these five girls joined. And to be immersed in the holiday, they all get to wear a traditional Chinese dress. Each one in different styles to show off their taste in fashion.

The majority of these narratives are that they want to spend this year with friends. In last year’s holiday art the pictures are all them by themselves. So this year I am taking group photos to show more of their personalities. And them interacting with the other girls. And that also gives me an excuse to draw them in cute yet interesting outfits. Why have one girl in a bikini when you can have plenty?

There you have it a new Holiday art post! I was planning to post the one for January. But so much happened that I got delayed. By the time I was ready to start working again, it was already more than 2 weeks late. So I decided to leave it till this year’s New Year’s Eve. So it will be a while until you guys get the chance to see it.

So please wish me good luck and I hope you have a nice day!

Do not forget to give me a visit at The Senspirational ArtRoom. All I need is your support and you can do so by going to my Patreon page. Or go to see my older drawings at DeviantArt. from Ijiserure.
