Improving My Skills: Art Practice Sketchbook

Hello Everybody! How are you all doing?

Today I want to talk about my current works in progress. I’ve been doing a lot of things lately. More than you can do while a regular trip. Besides going out and making the most of my trip. I also keep myself in creative shape.

Since before leaving for my trip, I was starting to practice my drawing skills. I wanted to improve my art style. But I then I stopped as soon as I left for my trip. I left most of my sketchbooks back home. Still, I brought a few with me.

With me, I brought only three sketchbooks to work with. I had the Strathmore Watercolor Journal, the Canson Mixed Media and, the Dylusions Creative Journal. Already made plans for the watercolor journal. The Dylussions journal was for art journaling. The left the Canson for sketching. But I had the idea of using it instead as a color swatch journal.

Before I knew it I ran out of journals to use. I wanted to sketch something new, and I didn’t have any journals for it. And I ended up buying three more. I have the Strathmore Toned Gray journal, the Canson Watercolor Sketchbook and, the Fabriano Sketchbook.

At first, I didn’t know what to do. I had too many sketchbooks to keep. Sooner or later I found a way how to use my sketchbooks. I tried practicing with random sketches daily. But then I stopped. My impatience of improvement made me give up in less than a week.

What did I do next?

An idea came back to me. It was something that I wanted to do back at home. In some way, I forgot. But this idea was the one that made me start practicing again. I wonder why didn’t that idea came up to me sooner. Now I feel like I am in a rush to finish this in time.

What am I doing?

So I decided to practice my art style by drawing very popular or mainstream characters. It is characters that people know and loves but draw them in my style. My sketchbook has 66 pages, and I plan to fill it up. The worst thing is that it is a drawing per day. Would I make it in time? Would I give up half way?

To add more on to my pile of work, I am also remaking past drawings. I want to start a transition from old drawing to the new art style. So I have to redraw them. But I am taking slow. I will start with only 12 drawings per each sketchbook. When I get back home I can either continue drawing the rest of my drawings or color them.

The coloring is another idea I want to work with. There are new things that I want to try. But I am avoiding planning more than I can handle. And I am reserving these drawings to use a new art supply I want to buy. With this, I could improve my art style tenfold. That is my speculation.

Will I succeed? I don’t know. That is why I am practicing a lot and every single day. And after I get back home I will continue to do so. The only thing I can say is that so far my art is looking fine. And I am proud of my hard work. So far I am in my 20th drawing. I still have 70 more drawings to go.

And there you have it, my current artistic plans. I am working so hard to get this done. It is one of those things that I have to plan ahead. But in the end, it will all be worth it. I am planning to make a total of 200+. That is a lot, I know. But that is a goal that I want to do.

Do not forget to give me a visit on my new website The Senspirational ArtRoom. All I need is your support and now you can do so by going to my Patreon page. Or go to see my older drawings at DeviantArt. There are also many other sites that I am currently active. Never forget to add me to FacebookTwitterInstagramTumblr, and on Pinterest. Well, I’ll leave now. Be nice to others and have a nice day!

See you all later and take care,

from Ijiserure.
