Sketchbook Art: Dream Seer

Hello Everybody! How are you all doing?

Welcome to my new sketchbook post! Today I am posting a new art of a character I’ve posted a long time ago. I can’t wait to start writing each character’s profiles. One day I will after I am done with my never-ending to-do list. But I’ll get there soon.

I made this character a long while ago. But I wanted to make her look more awesome. And I gave her this outfit. If only I were better at water coloring. I have to move on from this type of paper or I have to practice more. So I hope you like my drawing.

I am starting to realize that I don’t like this brand of paper. I don’t like watercolor paper with texture. I will bear as much as I can until this journal is done. But I think I should search for smoother paper. That is why I like the Strathmore 500 Series more than the 400 Series. But it doesn’t come as a journal.

Now I am on the hunt for a better watercolor journal. I have my eye on the Birn and Stillman Zeta. I hope it doesn’t disappoint me. I also need to get good on my water coloring. So I also have to put my part in making my art look better.

So who is this character?

She is LumCheng I already posted about this character before. This is the second part. I drew her with the outfit that I think she would wear while curing other people’s dreams. I wanted her to look like a magical girl. But I went on a different approach. She is more like a priestess. A magical priestess that travels through dreams solving curing people of nightmares.

How can I talk about this character without spoiling the story? I chose to color her outfit in light colors. I wanted the colors to look gentle. She is traveling through dreams. And pastel colors look dreamy to me. The mask is to cover her face from nightmares. They can affect her if she looks at them.

I am still thinking about how does she fight the nightmares. It is not like she solves problems. I guess she fights them. So that means that I have to create a weapon for her? There is so much to think about when you create a character or a story. If she is defeated she wakes up and can’t go back to the dreamland the same night. If she is in the dream world she can dream up the tool she needs for the proper situation.

That is something I go through when making a character. Sometimes ideas come to me quickly. And other times it takes me days or never. There are ideas that never come to me. And it makes it so hard to visualize a character without it. But at least I make it through.

I redrew this body again with LumCheng in it to give it a purpose. That is what I did a lot last year. Trying to bring a lot of my old drawings back to life. And at the same time transfer many drawings into sketchbooks. It all worked but most of them are left back at home. I have to go back to pick them up.

There you have it a new sketchbook art. I’ve been trying to catch up on all my art. And I did a lot of progress. But it is not enough. Each day more and more piles up. At least I am eighteen drawings away from finishing my practice sketchbook. After that I move to my special sketchbook. And I am not going say what I am working on. Not yet, so please wish me good luck!

Do not forget to give me a visit at The Senspirational ArtRoom. All I need is your support and now you can do so by going to my Patreon page. Or go to see my older drawings at DeviantArt. There are also many other sites that I am currently active in. Never forget to add me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, and Pinterest. Well, I’ll leave now. Be nice to others and have a nice day!

See you all later and take care,

from Ijiserure.
