Sketchbook Art: Kiku

Hello Everybody! How are you all doing?

Welcome to my new art post! I made a new drawing which I want to show you all. Now I’ve moved on from my Blue Sketchbook and now I am continuing with the Leuchtturm 1917 Sketchbook. There is so much work to be done. There are four sketchbooks ready to be worked on. From there is where I am going to get my Sketchbook art.

I’ve finally moved on from my Blue Sketchbook. This is the first complete artwork from my Leuchtturm Sketchbook. I like this sketchbook. But I have to use it a few more time to get used to it. So far I’ve only tried it with my colored pencils. I could use watercolors, but I don’t want to ruin it.

I like how this drawing turned out. And this is me after more than three months without drawing or coloring anything. I had to go online and search for pink and yellow yukatas. From that, I used it as a guide to color her outfit. I love how the gradient turned out. Art like this makes me want to color some more.

So who is this character?

Her name is Kiku named after the Chrysanthemum flower. Her story is that she lived with her aunt and cousins from a very young age. They would all get along as a family until Kiku got older and money was getting tight. Her aunt started prioritizing her own children over her niece. So Kiku became the Cinderella of the family. Kiku did her best to get a job and help her aunt with the money. But the only thing her aunt wanted was for Kiku to find a husband and move out of her house.

Kiku ignored her aunt’s wishes. She thought that bringing more money to the house was better for as there were two people working instead of one. But living with them became harder and harder each day. All her hard-worked money went to her aunt and her cousins. And all that was left for her was the scraps. On the other side, her aunt was already looking for a husband for her niece. She didn’t care if it was a good man or not, the only she wanted was for Kiku to leave. Things at home would be better without her.

The only reason why the aunt is taking care of Kiku was for the love that she had to her younger sister. Her little sister was unfortunate to get pregnant from a stranger and leave her behind. So she welcomed her into her home along. The little sister had her baby and eventually, the eldest sister had her twins. They both helped each other out raising their children. But the young sister got sick and it became difficult for all of them. The eldest sister husband couldn’t take care of them all and her left. The young sister died of an illness and the eldest sister was left alone to raise her twins and her niece.

One day Kiku decided to work as much as she could handle. She barely saw her family anymore. But she needed the money anyways. She had to prove to her aunt that she was helpful. That way she could stop her aunt from marrying her off to a random stranger. But all her efforts were for naught. Kiku cut her hair and sold it to a wig maker, still not enough. So she took her money and ran away. She left when everyone was asleep.

Nobody in her town knew where she went or what happened to her. She disappeared. Faking concern her aunt was happy she was gone for good. Another burden off her shoulders. Kiku without a place in the world wandered towards any other town she could find to start over. A place very far away from her previous town. So nobody could find her or recognize her.

She made it far in two weeks but not far enough as she was on a mountain road in the middle of nowhere. Her luck became sour when she heard a storm rolling in. Quickening her pace she found a path up to a mountain shrine. Hoping she could stay in the temple until the storm went away. After three hundred steps, she made it the shrine. But she was already soaked. To add more to her luck the temple was abandoned and falling apart.

She didn’t cake, all she needed was a roof over her head. But the ceiling had a few wholes and the doors wouldn’t shut right. This was going to be the most difficult night of her life. Smart enough to pack in a blanket as it was her only shield against the cold stormy wind. Her damp clothes were hung up to dry by the furnace.

Okay, so that is part one of the start of her story. I would like to write more but it would kill the suspense of what happens next. She soon finds a place to live and friends. It happens sooner than you think. But I like her story is interesting and not so long ago I added a very interesting twist. It doesn’t change the story but it becomes something else. When I’ve learned about this concept I knew I had to add it to one of my stories. And this one fits so well.

The supplies I’ve used are simple as always:

  • Crayola Colored Pencils
  • Leuchtturm 1917 Sketchbook
  • Blue lead mechanical pencil
  • Deleter Neopiko Black pens
  • Gelly Roll Pen

So there you have it a new art post! I am sorry for not posting last Friday. This week I’ve been super busy. I moved into my new place, then I had to work. Do groceries, worry about repairs and other stuff. So my head is everywhere. I don’t know what to work on first and what has more priority. All I am doing is getting used to my new place while figuring out how to do my blog and go to work. So I apologize if I am falling behind on my posting. Please wish me good luck!

Do not forget to give me a visit at The Senspirational ArtRoom. All I need is your support and now you can do so by going to my Patreon page. Or go to see my older drawings at DeviantArt. There are also many other sites that I am currently active. Never forget to add me at FacebookTwitterInstagramTumblr, and on Pinterest. Well, I’ll leave now. Be nice to others and have a nice day!

See you all later and take care,

from Ijiserure.
