Sketchbook Art: Suichou

Hello Everybody! How are you all doing?

Welcome to my new art post! Today I want to show you my new sketchbook art. I am so happy how it came out. So I am happy that I can show you how much I’ve improved. Right now I want to color another one. At least I am buying some time to do this more often.

I have to be honest with you guys. I am enjoying myself so much coloring these. Never in my life have I colored like this before. So you have to understand how excited I am to continue this for as long as I can. This is a breakthrough discovery for me.

The most surprising thing is how I made this with the original art supplies. I used my blue sketchbook. Which I recently found out it has a very smooth paper. That is the secret to making this all possible. And the Crayola Colored Pencils are the only ones that work better with this.

For this artwork my top supplies are:

  • Crayola Colored Pencils
  • Smooth 80 lb sketchbook paper
  • Gelly Roll Pen
  • Sakura Pens

Those are the only art supplies I’ve used and the only ones that I need for now. So much that I had to buy myself another sketchbook. And it had to be from the same brand as my Blue Sketchbook. I am so lucky that Amazon keeps a record of all my orders. So I ordered a 5 1/2″ x 8.5″ Watson Guptill Sketchbook.

So who is this character? If you have seen my Instagram account, then you know I’ve been posting a lot of S-Girls. What I mean is that she is part of the S-Girl Collection. All the girls have a name starting with the letter S. And Suichou is part of them. First by using some old drawings and soon they will have their own original drawings.

How did I make this drawing? Well, I’ve had this drawing for a long time in my Blue Sketchbook. So while I was redrawing some of them into a mixed media sketchbook, I decided to color some of them. And that is how I discovered my coloring potential. But I do spend a day and a half to make it look the way it is. I am grinding layers upon layers of colors to make it look good and even.

I am so happy to get my new sketchbook. I won’t make the same mistake I did with my Blue Sketchbook. And I placed some definitive rules to use it the way it should be.

  • One drawing per sheet: I am not going to draw on the back side.
  • Only draw with a blue lead pencil: It is easier to hide when colored or erased
  • Ink my drawings before coloring them: Use archival ink so it won’t bleed, feather or smudge.
  • Never ever use wet mediums: Markers, inks, and paints are no good for this paper.
  • Colored Pencils only: The color pencil to use is the Crayola Brand.
  • Always place a cardstock paper between the pages: This is to buffer the pages from the pressure of coloring.
  • Draw and color the image as soon as possible: Never let an unfinished drawing linger for too long.

Why did I decide to get a smaller sketchbook? It the drawings are smaller I draw them quicker. The smaller the less color I have to apply. But it is a challenge as the details are going to be smaller too. All I have in my brain right now is my new sketchbook. I can’t forget that I have a few more artworks that I need to work on before I leave. I am moving out soon and there are some drawing I want to get done and scan before that day comes.

And there you have it a new artwork from my Blue Sketchbook. Soon to be well I am not sure what to call my new sketchbook. They come with a black hardcover. I’ll think about it, I have 88 drawings worth of time to think about that. All I want is to get my new sketchbook so I can continue coloring with my Crayola pencils. After so many years using Crayola, I’ve never thought that I would discover this. This puts my Prismacolors to shame. But they’ll get their own sketchbook to practice with. I have to learn how to use them in their own way.

Do not forget to give me a visit at The Senspirational ArtRoom. All I need is your support and now you can do so by going to my Patreon page. Or go to see my older drawings at DeviantArt. There are also many other sites that I am currently active. Never forget to add me at FacebookTwitterInstagramTumblr, and on Pinterest. Well, I’ll leave now. Be nice to others and have a nice day!

See you all later and take care,

from Ijiserure
