Things To Eat To Keep Me Working: Meals For An Artist

Hello Everybody! How are you all doing?

Today I want to talk about food. When do I not? Eating is one of the best pleasures of life. But this time it is about which kind of foods keeps me working. That is why I made a list. It gives you an idea of what I eat when I am concentrated on working all day long.

When you are an artist and busy creating content, there is no time for other things. Well except for bathroom breaks. That is quite unavoidable. Even if you don’t have time for basic needs, you still need to eat. Maybe you aren’t hungry, but you need something to keep you energized throughout your work session.

It doesn’t have to be only for artists. It also helps students on their essay deadlines or during finals. It is something to keep you up and ready. That way you don’t have to waste time on anything else. And some of them are convenient foods that give you energy.

List of food that I eat when I want to stay creative:

  • Full Sandwich (any kind of sandwich): Sandwiches are good. And I don’t need to use a fork or knife. But it will take some time to prepare.
  • Vanilla milkshake (sweet enough to give me energy): This is the treat that started it all. I buy the biggest cup, and I drink it a sip at a time. Has enough sugar to keep working for a whole weekend.
  • Any Kind of Pasta (from spaghetti and meatballs to mac and cheese): I love pasta, it has carbs and carbs is sugar. Sugar is important if I need energy.
  • Caesar, Chef or Cobb Salad (my favorite types of salad): You can buy ready-made salads at the supermarket. And it is healthy.
  • Dim Sum (chicken, pork, or vegetable): This is me wanting something a bit fancy. I have recently found my new love for dim sum. I can get this frozen at the supermarket. It is done in 2 minutes in the microwave. Good enough for a snack or a dinner.
  • Chocolate (Hershey’s cookies& cream and Kisses, Pocki, Nutella, and Kitkats): I like chocolate, not that much but it is sweet enough to give me a burst of energy when I need it.
  • Chips (Lays Potato Chips, Doritos, Chocolate Chip Cookies): Junk food for when I am feeling lazy and hungry. It is bad for me but it serves its purpose.
  • Frozen/microwave food (egg rolls, mozzarella sticks, breakfast sandwiches, pizzas, and etc. ): I need things that won’t need any effort to prepare.
  • Cup Ramen: One of those quick to prepare meals. Only takes like three minutes.
  • Fruit Juices: (Kiwi Strawberry, Fruit Punch, Orange, Grape, and Cranberry): When I get bored of plain water. I drink juice or flavored water.
  • Sweets are like a deadline reward (cinnamon rolls, ice cream, cake, soft pretzels): I like these so much that I can’t eat it all the time. It is way too sweet. That is why I only eat them as a reward. If I completed my work then I can treat myself.
  • Water: I can not forget about that, it is important to stay hydrated. That is why I always have a water bottle with me.

As you can see I have a long list of options. I know what to eat instead of wasting time being hungry and wondering what your next meal will be. In that time you could be working on getting things done.

A new treat I want to try is the frozen Popsicle. But I wouldn’t want that to be melting and dripping down onto my work. I could have added fast food. But eating too much takeout will not do any good for me in the long run. I prefer staying a bit on the healthy side. Even though that I am consuming a ton of sugar.

Before starting a project I pick a date to get my work done. And then I proceed to prepare for that date. I will stop by the supermarket and stock up on food. Make a list of things you need get done. Take out all the art supplies I need and make myself comfortable.

My advice is to not eat too much if you plan to work for a long period of time. Eating until feeling full will make you feel heavy and sluggish. You might end up feeling tired and wanting to take a nap. But if you are very tired, don’t be afraid of taking a rest. It is better to take a break than working half awake.

When I have to work on a project, my three major issues are hunger, time and laziness. I get hungry but am too lazy to cook anything. Then I get too tired to start working on anything. In the end, I wasted my time and nothing gets done. So don’t let food be also another obstacle between you and your work.

And there you have it, foods for a busy person. Letting know that I am not sponsored to say or promote any of those brands. I am only mentioning things that I like to consume. And I am a picky eater, so everything on that list is foods that I love to eat often.
