Who am I?
Hello everybody! How is everyone doing?
Lately I have written a lot of posts that only talked about what is my site going to be and about the things I do. Also a the things that I want to do and about what I am going to offer to you all. Maybe it is time to talk a bit about myself. I want you all to at least know a little more about me. So I decided to write a post about myself so you all can at least know me better. You wouldn’t want to follow on the internet the art and ramblings of a complete stranger. So let’s start with the personal interview.
My real name is Ijeselle Reyes. Ijeselle is a combination of two other names. The “I” comes from my mother’s name Iris and “Jes” comes from my father’s name Jesus, Elle is just a filler. But I prefer to call myself by my artistic name Ijiserure. It comes from me trying to translate my name into Japanese when I was in 9th grade. I liked it so much that I just go by that name everywhere online. For short, you can call me Iji. It seems that my name is complicated to pronounce. So I am already used to people getting my name wrong. To give you a tip is sounds like E-S-L.
My birthday is on January 2nd and I am currently 25 years old. A lot of people tell me that I don’t look like my age. And I am certain that I don’t behave as such either. Sometimes I compare myself with my middle school graduation photo and I almost look like I was back then. To be honest I do not want to get any older than this.
Where do I live? I am from a small island in the Caribbean. I don’t think you have ever heard of it; it’s called Puerto Rico. Before you all ask, yes I was born here. My parents are immigrants from Dominican Republic and I have an American Citizenship. That is all on that topic. I love my island. It’s surrounded with beautiful beaches and it’s official first language is Spanish. But I feel that the inhabitants underappreciate the island.
I study at the University of Puerto Rico. I started during 2010 and I am in my 7th year. Right now I have a bachelor’s degree in Arts in Graphic Arts. When I was about to graduate I’ve realized that I didn’t liked graphic arts as much as I thought. So that is when I realized how much I wanted to travel. But I knew that could cost me a lot of money. Until photography and journaling became an option to me. I couldn’t take any photography nor writing courses. They were all full. That was in 2015 when I graduated. Then I took six month break and got a job and then returned to study photography as my second major. That is what I am currently doing right now. Working and studying and now I have a blog.
What are my hobbies? I like to draw. I’ve been doing so for as long as I can remember. Actually I was born with that talent through my mother. Never went to an art school, so I learned on my own. So I practiced by imitating the images that I saw on TV. I leaned to draw by watching anime. I always used to only draw, but then I started coloring with colored pencils. Now I am trying some new things like watercolor, pens and markers. My characters, I like to create them with a story. Drawing if the best thing, I wouldn’t give it up for anything.
Well there you have it folks. That is a little bit about me. Maybe there will be a part 2 to my personal interview and talk to you about more interesting things about me. I would like to share more, but I need to find out first about what do I want to tell you about. Stay tune for my next post and artworks.
