image Art Tree of the Imaginary

Hello Everybody! How are you all doing?

Today I want to show you all another artwork I did for a class. This artwork has more than a year since I made it. It was for my fundamental class. Everything in that class was two-dimensional. In other words made on paper or on a flat surface.

This tree I made it’s called the ‘Tree of the Imaginary”. I am not sure what it is. But the professor made use create it. It is to bring out what was laying around in our inner psyche. We drew what we thought about the future, present and past. At least an image to represent it. It is pretty clear what is the message that I wanted to send.

From the bottom to the top goes from past, present and future. The dark looking tulip means that some “events” in my childhood made me a closed off person. The star is that I was someone different, I did things that I liked and didn’t wanted to be like the rest. An art pallet meant that I had an art talented since very young. In the present, the lotus meant that I was opening up to others and to myself. The money represents my limitations, and the clock is the time I need or have left to make my dreams happen. For the future, I want to be a bright and open person like a sunflower. I want to travel the World and see everything. The butterfly means that I want to transform and someday become the person I want to be.

This assignment brought out a lot of deep stuffs from all the classmates. I only knew them for a week and we were already getting personal. To be honest I had to hold back some tears. I had to tell a part of my childhood that wound me. And also a part of my life that keeps me chained up. This assignment taught me that my “past doesn’t define me, that it is only a foundation of who you are going to be”. I fell like I quoted Red vs Blue right now.

I made this on a watercolor paper, Canson XL 9 x 12 in. I first drew the tree and then made the boxes with washi tape. Then I erased the tree drawing that was inside the box and made the images. To color the tree I used watercolor pencils and Inktense pencils. For last I colored the small images with marker and colored pencils. I like my tree, from the rest of the class it was the most colorful and brightest. My art usually tends to be that way. And I will continue being so.

So there you have it another class artwork. I still have more artworks to show you. Sooner or later I might run out. But I know what other things to show you. Today it is an important holiday and I am just rest to go to work. This is one of the most busiest days of the year. The thought of it makes me go crazy. I feel like I am not going to work, I am going to a war. Remember that not all clients are pleasant. And not all store clerks or sellers are patient.
