image How To: My Color Swatch Journal

Hello Everybody! How are you all doing?

Today I want to talk about my random side art project. Wanting to do this experiment came to me out of nowhere. I was ready to get this idea done as soon as possible. So I decided to create a color swatch journal. Now I have an art journal where I can keep all the color palettes of every art supply I have. From acrylic paints to colorful writing pens.

Where did I get the idea from? I sometimes watch for art reviews online. It is a common practice to create a color swatch or a palette. That way you can see how the product works. Because I own a lot of art supplies. So I realized that it would be more convenient for me to create some color swatches. That way I will be able to know how well they work and compare the quality and pigments.

What kind of journal did I use? As soon as I decided that I wanted swatch journal, I started to look for a sketchbook to do it in. I was close to getting myself a Leuchtturm journal. But I already had so many unused journals. So I decided to use my new Canson XL Mixed Media journal. In my perspective, it is the best sketchbook to for this kind of job. It is good enough for various art mediums. Then I painted the cover to make it look nice. Soon I will decorate it with pretty designs.

How did I make my journal? First I wrote a list of all the art supplied that I could remember. And I also wrote down a few that I will definitely want to buy soon. But then it became a very tricky task. I had to measure the whole page. Then divide it by the number of colors that I needed. The size of the squares depends on the number of colors I need. For example, twelve squares on a page will be larger than 24 squares.

So far I have made squares for 13 different art supplies. And I still have enough pages left for whichever art supply I might get in the future. I am also planning to create a color palette. I want to test out how many colors can I make while blending them. It is a whole experiment I have going on. And it is working out very well so far. For quite a while I have been wanting to create something like this, and the day has finally come.

And there you have it, another random art project post. I like this, when I get an idea I want to get up and make it happen. It has become a bad habit of mine of having ideas and letting it set for another day. In the end, they never get started. So I am glad I went for it as soon as I felt like making it. If not, then I wouldn’t have something creative to talk about today.
Do not forget to give me visit at my new website The Senspirational ArtRoom. All I need is your support and now you can do so by going to my Patreon page. Or go to see my older drawings at DeviantArt. There are also many other sites that I am currently active. Never forget to add meat FacebookTwitterInstagramTumblr, and on Pinterest. Well, I’ll leave now. Be nice to others and have a nice day!

See you all later and take care,

from Ijiserure.
