Art Review: Deleter Dip Pen

Hello Everybody! How are you all doing?

Welcome to my new post. Today I am trying a new thing. I’ve wanted to make these kinds of posts before. But to do that you have to test the product over and over again. And to be honest when I work on my art. My mind goes blank and stops thinking about anything else besides the art itself. At least this time I took my time and focused on this pen.

So I’ve wanted to review some of my art supplies for a long while. But like I said before my art comes first and I have no other thought than the art. To make this possible I sat down with the pen and ink. And I started practicing with it over and over again with each nib. After all that I got an opinion about this pen.

A long while ago I bought this pen set. But then I left it on a shelf and never used it until today. I even forgot the reason why I got it in the first place. But years later I realized that none of my pens allowed me to create some fine delicate lines. I tried with fine liners and brush tip pens. But they didn’t work. Until I remembered that I had this.

I was lucky that I took this with me. It would have been sad if I had to buy another set. But that doesn’t matter now. The point is that I have a new pen that allows me to create super-thin lines. And that makes the drawing look very delicate. When I tried this, it took my art to a whole different level.

The set comes with a pen, three nibs of different sizes and three sheets of paper. You first attach the nib of your choice on to the pen. Before starting to draw with it. I ran a flame along the nib to remove the waxy coating. There are other ways to remove the coating by washing it with water and soap. For me, the flame method is the easiest and the fastest. If you don’t do that first the pen won’t work right.

Items included in the set:

  • Pen holder
  • Saji Pen (Large nib)
  • G-Pen (Medium nib)
  • Maru Pen (Small nib)
  • 3 Sheets of Manga Paper

I got some ink and started practicing on a blank piece of paper. They are very smooth to work with. I still need more practice but it is easy to get into it. I tried all three nibs, but my favorite is the G-pen. It isn’t too big nor too small. And at the start, I thought that the Maru pen was going to be. But the line is to thin. A bit more and my drawing will disappear. And the Saji pen the biggest one is good but I am not ready yet. So I am in an in-between.

This is me trying to ink a drawing with the G-pen. I do need more practice. But can I see the difference. It doesn’t look like my other drawings. And I like it. This is what I was looking for when I decided to try these. The only thing I need to do now is to practice more and switch my nibs. Cause I know each one has a specific use.

Should I recommend it? Yes, I would. Only if you are serious about art. Cause dipping your pen in ink can make a mess sometimes. But you are also fine with regular pens. To have lines as fine as these you’ll need to use 05, 03, 01, and 005. I will continue using both. But I do want to use these more from now on.

And there you have, my first art supply review. This is my first one so I am not 100% if did it alright. But like anything else I need to practice to get better at it. I kinda like doing these. I do love talking about my art supplies and I have a whole bunch of them that I can review on. Let’s see what I’ll have for my next review. So please wish me good luck.
